There is a captivating story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime location, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes needed to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 table games. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and 66 of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around resort and hotel complex that contains a number of amenities aside from the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 table games.
