The constant scarcity in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense somewhat baffling, in one way or another.

In years gone by, the country was a site where numerous South Africans would vacation to flee from the considerably confining regulations on wagering (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. So, you could expect a picture of a thriving location to cater to that tourist industry.

At the same time, perhaps it isn’t considerably an astonishment. The city is undeniably the most bankrupt over the world, having gone through a horrific civil war (followed by devastating floods) from which it is still, very slowly, pulling through. This tends to make a place much less of a vacation destination, as much as there is currently a developing view along several of the state’s beautiful beaches.

It is also true that regionally at the very least, casinos in Mozambique have had to compete with casinos in the newly liberalized South Africa, which is inclusive of the well-known Sun City founded by the Kerzner family management.

Here’s a list of Mozambique’s casinos:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are 78 slot machines and video poker games, five tables of American roulette, 4 blackjack tables, as well as one poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, and also 2 tables for poker and punto banco.

It is thought that over time the entire tourism industry in Mozambique will build conclusively. While the local languages are, apparently, African, there is in addition the fraction of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the fresh and accelerating emergence of English, both from South Africa and as part of the worldwide phenomenon. The country is very cheap (evidently, as it is extremely poor) and as above, has some of the most beautiful beaches across the globe, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the types of assets that make tourism agents drool, and as the country elevates out of its existing slump, it’s likely that not only will tourism blossom, but that the list of casinos in Mozambique will grow longer for sure.

While the country is improbable to ever reclaim its image as a focal point for partying South Africans, as there are now other choices closer to home for them to engross in, the elevation of a long distance tourism industry is being arranged. This would be to accommodate Europeans bargaining on winter sun, as a retreat from the gloominess of the Northern Hemisphere winter. Additionally, also, the finest prawns (shrimp) across the globe are just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
